Pop Up Studio Branding
By the time we started the branding process for Portshowlio, my classmates and I had morphed into an incredibly close-knit and engaged cohort of talented weirdos. Branding our show felt monumentally important and equally terrifying but I was obsessed with nailing a BIG IDEA that felt true and representative of our class. What started as an idea, took on a life of its own, to eye-catching and memorable results.
Challenge
Each year, the graduating class at Seattle Central Creative Academy (SCCA) is tasked with branding their own portfolio show. This year, we faced a tight deadline for developing a brand that represented all 46 of us and a system of guidelines that allowed any one of us to extend the brand across print, digital, physical, video, and environmental applications.
Roles
For this project, I did a lot of conceptual heavy-lifting through exploration, ideation, moodboarding, and concept development. The branding team pitched three initial concepts to the 2018 graduating class and my partner Sarah and I were thrilled that our pitch resonated most.
From there, we incorporated feedback, refined our concept, color palette, and worked with the brand team to develop comprehensive brand guidelines, making sure our system could accommodate a variety of uses.
Up until the day of the event, I provided art direction for different visual assets and extensions, and collaborated with various team leads, namely the web team, to ensure we were all adopting the brand in super innovative ways while still aligning to our central concept and design rules. I also designed and produced wayfinding signage including our directory map.
